What will the excuse be this time?

As we in Britain 'suffer' under a 'devastating' blanket of four inches of snow, sometimes up to a whole 12 inches in places, with traffic 'chaos', schools 'shut down', and half the nation at home quaking under their blankets, I was just wondering how this could be turned around by the global warmists? No doubt they'll be flinging around more words like 'extreme' to somehow link this 'horrific weather event' into some kind of flip side to the 'terrible' warm weather in Australia (who would have thought it, warm weather in Australia?)

In the meantime, while they cook up some excuse as to why this calamitous 'Siberian' snow means I should be taxed more, to counter the 'worst' snow we've had for '20' whole years, as if anything humans do bothers the Universe, I'm going out sledging. Cheers! :-)

If we get a few more cold winters then undoubtedly the global warming activists will resurrect their prediction that climate change will switch off the Gulf Stream, giving the UK a climate like Newfoundland.

However, it will become increasingly difficult to sell expensive environmental policies to a sceptical general public, so maybe governments and NGOs will have to think up new scares to provide an excuse for further expanding state control.

Which reminds me of my favourite H.L.Mencken quote:

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed and hence clamorous to be
led to safety by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

I think the one above is the gold medal winner, but for silver, how about:

"Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses."

Bronze:

"Puritanism. The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."

Fantastic!
