Sorry I called him one-eyed and Scottish but ... he is an idiot
Just in case you missed it, here is Jeremy Clarkson 'unforgivably' calling Gordon Brown a 'one-eyed Scottish idiot'.
According to the The Sun, he is repentant about the one-eyed Scottish bit, because he doesn't want to offend people with disabilities or Scottish people, but he refuses to retract the bit about Gordon Brown being an idiot:

Obviously, as an anarchist I am completely opposed to anyone being Prime Minister. But if Jeremy Clarkson stood, I really would have to vote for him.

Idiot doesn't begin to describe the bloke.
Apparrently Sir James Crosby - a close (banking) adviser to Darling and Brown - has suggested that a way out of the current crisis is to find ways of using securitisation to help boost lending. As I understand it, it was the development of such securitised mortage packages (in the context of the lax monetary policies of the last ten years - that caused the current crisis in the first place.
Or may be I am wrong and it was actually all Thatcher's fault.
