There have been some older movies which have celebrated monarchy, which I have enjoyed. I'm thinking particularly of Errol Flynn movies which celebrate Richard the Third, or Elizabeth the First, so you're onto something there.

But the 'democratic' spirit now helps prevent such movies being made...

I think this is going to require further thought.Jack Maturinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00903651577858853608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19769829.post-57351062628559890952010-04-06T15:24:11.018+01:002010-04-06T15:24:11.018+01:00But what about monarchist or better yet - socialis...But what about monarchist or better yet - socialist monarchist?Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05595380853679684624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19769829.post-12146467483202713252010-04-06T15:22:56.424+01:002010-04-06T15:22:56.424+01:00I'd love to get down a pub and take on a socia...I'd love to get down a pub and take on a socialist claiming that 'Return of the King' was a glorification of government.

That would be really fun! ;-)Jack Maturinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00903651577858853608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19769829.post-66888544644078839462010-04-06T15:15:11.610+01:002010-04-06T15:15:11.610+01:00With most of the movies it depends what ideologica...With most of the movies it depends what ideological lenses someone is wearing. It seems that you are making lot of movies libertarian by picking certain parts of it. A statist can come to an opposite assessment due to his lenses...

Maybe the question should be: What are good collectivist movies? Although individualism is biased toward liberty, it could also be presented in statist colors.
